Hard bags on road king with leather bags?
#11
Don't want to step on your thread but I think anyone interested in changing out bags might be interested in my question. My '09 Road King Classic has the leather bags and the factory brackets for a sissy bar/tour pac. When you fully open the top of the bag, it hits a screw head on the bracket. There is a worn spot on both bags, bad enough for leather bags but could be very bad for hard bags. Is this a common problem and does it happen with hard bags? Thanks

Are you using the required 90580-09 pieces???
It's better to just buy the chrome or black magnetic covers for the docking points, they are smooth and don't cut into the leather when the bag lid is open fully.
As to the original question, the hard bags hinge open differently and are not in danger of contacting the docking hardware in the same manner if I remember right. I do know they give you some clear 3M film for the hard bag latches or something with the docking kits.
