Guys I have an upcoming one time need to use a Deutsch type crimp tool and was wondering in anyone has installed terminals without this or any other Deutsch type crimp tool.

I'll soon be installing the Tour Pak QD kit and the plug and play wiring harness (70032-09) and need to crimp some pins in place somewhere in the harness. Unfortunately the instructions don't specify where but I suspect it's the main jumper into the TP.

Any home remedies out there? You time is much appreciated.

I have done it with small needle nose pliers. The crimp tool to much for my blood. I think it is a couple hundred bucks.

 

Solder them on.
Tin the wire ends,heat the pins up with the iron,melt a little solder into the hole,then slide the tinned wire into the hole while still applying heat from the iron,wait a couple seconds,and your done.

Almost as fast as crimping and a much better connection.

 

One of the special crimp tools can be had for about 50 bucks. Actually, I have had several chances to use it since, it's a nice addition to a tool box.

Frye's Electronics - less than 20 bucks. I got one there designed for computer connector pins and it works perfectly.

But the solder recommendation is a good one.

I've done it both ways.

 

No need for the tool, just solder them and clip off the part that folds over.

 

Bought my crimp tool from Tool King. Has interchangeable dies that you can buy depending on your needs as well.

 

I use the same crimp tool that I have for GM weather pack connectors. Do a search for GM weather pack crimp tool. You can find them for around $35.00

or needlenose..if you want some "extra protection" crimp it then hit it with a little solder
