Default 103 and Want more power thru cams?

I'm new to the forums so Howdy! I have a 07 RKC with a 103 stage II kit in now running 255 cams, Vance and Hines. I just turned over 43,000 and
at 60 wanted to get some more power! Cams seem to be the easy way to go with say a Red Shift 577 etc. or ? I do not want to go 110 as many of my friends have had to many problems and they don't even have close to the mileage I have and the 09 kit I would use is not at harley now anyway. (29931-08A) I already put in compression releases during the build when the kit was put in 08. What would you use to beef it up some more by removing the 255 cams? Seems the guys at my local dealer have run out of ideas. That's a first too! Thanks!

The Woods 555s have gotten good reveiws, it depends on how much you want to spend. Having a good street P&P on the heads & bumping the CR a little by shaving & CCing the heads along with thinner head gaskets to get the squish right would be a good start. If you want to go farther you could go with a 107 kit, that or just buy a 120R!

Contact Heath at Foster's HD in tuscumbia Al. They are bumping 96ci to 103's and gettin right at 120 hp 120 tq. I dont know all the details except they are using a custom cam built to his specs. Give him a call he's great to work with and would be happy to give you the specifics.

Can't ride a dyno sheet anyways. I am always a little leery of any shop that tries to push kits based on their dyno sheet numbers.

you don't get 120/120 out of a 103 without a serious infusion of $$$.

A stage II 103 can only do so much. Swapping cams might net another couple of hp/ft lbs, or shift the power band around a little, but seat of the pants, you aren't going to notice much until you start putting some money into your heads and increasing compression.

Best thing you can do for the 103 is to go with higher cr forged pistons and have your heads ported and matched to a set of good cams like the Woods 555. If you just swap one set of bolt-in cams for another, you're likely going to be disappointed. The 255s aren't the highest performing cam for the 103, but they aren't going to be so far off the mark that another cam set will make a huge difference.

if you really want more power it's going to take more compression like 10.5 to 1 ratio along with some great cams like the 259-E harley cams. my 103 with the stage 3 kit really runs strong and it's the harley kit part #27544-10 guaranteed to put a huge smile on your face every time you whack the throttle. a great 2 into 1 helps a lot too along with a tuner who's a wizard with the dyno.

I recently had my 103 with 255 se cam's punched out to 107 and used the 574 reaper cam from fueling. I Also had street port done on the head's [ 1.63 and 1.9 valves] , cleaned up the port's. I love the way my bike run's! It ran ok with the 103 255 combo, but it ran out of steam above 4800 rpm's. But now she pull's hard all the way to rev limit, which I have set at 6200 rpm's. My buddy has a 103 with the 574 cam and I loved the way his bike ran. He walked away from my 103 255 combo, but not any more! We had my work done at Larry's hot rod and harley's here in eastern PA. I have rinehart td with quiet baffle's, and t-max auto-tune. The reaper cam has a distinct Idle. I'm very satisfied with this combo. Thank's Larry!
