When I bought my King, I specifially wanted an '07, because it was the ONLY year that had both the 96" motor & 6-speed tranny, AND throttle cables. Personally, I cannot get used to the TBW (electronic throttle) on the '08 & up no matter how much I try; there is a lag that makes the bike very hard to clutch away in first, and the throttle feels "disconnected" from the motor. Only thing '07 must be tuned, as it runs much too hot in stock form. Don't lug the motor, or lock up the rear wheel without pulling the clutch in or you could "scissor" the crank; they were pressed together by then. '07 they corrected the cam tensioner shoe problem; before that you hadda get 'em checked after 25K or so miles, although I have heard of them going in as little as 2K miles. Also, you may wanna upgrade the comp in whatever you buy.

Dude any suggestions on how to clean the pop that came out of my nose and is now all over my keyboard.

Dickey at least was saying the same thing 5 years ago.

And I agree with him on bikes. I love my 07. Best bike I've owned.

Guitars I'm clueless. Although I recently was given one and I'm trying to learn. I've come to the conclusion that I have no musical talents but I ain't giving up.

I've rented an M8 '17 a couple of weekends...and I'm lusting for one. Seems mighty fine to me.

Default 2000 model

I bought a 2000 model, cheap motor with low mileage, then up rate the cams and big bore and you have a decent motor.
Mine has the forged crank which can handle mods easy with a very small crank run out which can take gear cams.
Love the power it now has and its to your spec. 102 bhp (at the wheel) with mild Andrews cams. Simple!

Rickochet55, its a standard police air ride seat. I bought the hand rail as an aftermarket part and mounted it by drilling small holes in the seat pan then using a tap for 3/16 allen bolts. There isn't much meat on the threads but if you put red locktite on it when tightening it down, its not going anywhere. And thank you for the comment.

Old thread I know but I love this.

"ALL Roadkings are "classics" and the best bike HD ever made."

And I totally agree.

As far as the most plush rides I'd say my 2003 road king classic was the bike you would ride 1000 miles and not feel a thing comfort is in a KING!!!
