There is Nothing worse than a seat that does not fit - and being tall - means you need to move back and that will cut into the passanger area - no way to really get around it. I happen to fall on the other side - short rider - I am lucky enough to live about an hour from Corbin in Hollister and had their back rest built to MY back and now the seat and back rest fit like a glove - good luck on your search and I agree - both need to fit YOU to be a good ride
The adjustable backrest is good but the stock seats SUCKS.
I went with the Mustang w/backrest, well worth the extra $$ very comfortable and lots of adjustment, the backrest is on a pivot so you lean back and it fits the riding position.

I agree - BOTH need to fit/feel right or they are a waste of $$$
