Air cooling and packing question

I have been thinking about this for a few minutes, and I only see problems with putting it on the forks - limited air flow, rubbing against the fender, or even limiting shock travel because of a bulky object.

Use a couple. I always double up on the nets. Unless you like seeing your stuff scattered on the highway, in your mirror.
Look at the included picture. That's a sleeping bag, seat pack with a weeks worth of cloths, bike cover, and tent. The tent never gets used on trips. It's there to insure that I get a motel room on short notice
If I didn't have the tent, I could lose my backrest and the rack and move things forward, and use the seat bag and sleeping bag as a backrest.
The saddlebags? Glad you asked. Those are reserved for some of the crap my wife always buys on trips. A few years ago, the saddlebags were full of different varieties of cactus my wife decided to bring home from the Badlands. Guess who was assigned to dig them up, and load, and unload them from the bags?

Also, get yourself some soft-straps that allow you make tie points from various metal objects - the soft-straps allow you to use the bungee net hooks and not scratch the metal and also provides and better point for the hook to stay latched to. Used them many times on my Street Bob with good success.
