Default Tinging noise right side new streetglide 950miles

New 103 streetglide. Have been riding locally to work daily. I have 950 miles and it has and rattling pinging sound coming from the exhaust side. Haven't ridden it hard just trying to break it in. Is this sound normal? Last bike was a 08 softail that i put 36,000 miles on . No strange noises there. What do you guys think? Maybe quiten down with synthetic? Or is it just the cat exhaust?

Check your heat shields and exhaust mounts. Might have loosened up. Also, going to run slot hotter than your other bike. Would advise something better than just a stage 1 download from the stealership. Still going to be lean. TMax, SERT, or PC to be sure. PCV cheapest way to go, and you can install yourself, download maps fir your upgrades, etc. Someone had one on here or Vtwin for $150. Good luck, and enjoy your new ride! Peace..

It's pinging..Pre-detonation.Raise the octane of the fuel, or retard the timing.

+1, Spark Knock. get a power commander and have it tuned properly, use high test gas alone and you won't hear it no more.

Take it back to the dealership & let them find out the problem. You have a warranty for at least 2 years. PLEASE, after you find out the problem, get back on here & post what it was. Thanks & good luck.

thanks guys, i will get it in to the stealer this week. I put 250 miles on it today, damn i like this ride, wife says the fatboy was smoother ride, i disagree. The noise is still there, nothing loose. I know the twin cams rattle and you can hear the gearbox. Maybe since i have the fairing blocking some of the wind noise i can hear the engine better and its just louder. Hell i don't know but for the bucks i dropped for it i want it right...will keep you posted

harley mech says its just the valve train noise. Hell i guess with the fairing i can hear everything now unlike on my fatboy, it didn't have a shield and i have never rode with one on before, will take some getting used to.

You can try different types and brands of motor oil to lessen the valve clatter. Mine's quieter with dino, so that's what I run...
