Default So, what is a 2002 RG with 105K on it worth?

I am thinking about upgrading the bike. I've got a 2002 FLTR with almost 105,000 miles on it. I've put the last 72,000 on it and done most of the work on it myself.

What do you think it is worth. I know what the local H-D shop said, but I would like a real number...

Dealer quote = about $6500 - $7500 range
Dealer sale = about $10,000

10k is the bottom line where I live for touring bikes. My buddy just bought a 2004 CVO Ultra with 42k miles for $15k in Northern Ca.

If they would get close to $7,500.00 I would consider trading. But they offered me $1,500.00! What? $1,500.00? I could part it out and make a ton more than that. There's not any damage to the bike and it runs great.

Needless to say, I can't see shopping there when time for another bike.

Trading in a bike or any vehicle is always a sucker game. I'd try to sell it myself. The dealer has to make money to keep his dooors open. A lot of the current buyers for Harleys are not goiing to buy a bike with 100,000 miles, so it's a hard sell for a dealer. You need to find someone who knows bikes. If it was me I'd freshen up the top end if it even needs it, and keep the bike. Why give it away? More than a few of us know that 2002 was the best year ever for Harley baggers.

I think they are telling you they dont want it.

Of course you can get more by selling it yourself but I think it would have to be priced right with that mileage.

If I were in the market for a used bike I recon I might be willing to part with $6000. Trouble is the mileage . . .

Have you thought about the Harley Remaufactured Engine Program. Sounds like the bike doesn't owe you a thing. Freshen up the motor and ride on! Worse case freshen the motor and sell for more money.

It's pretty sad that a nice bike like that doesnt get much compared to what was paid and put into it.
