Default Removing fuel tank, front and rear fender

How difficult is it to remove the fuel tank, front and rear fender on an '09 Ultra Classic? I have one small spot on each piece that needs fixing and according to the guy that paints motorcycles they have to come off to fix and re-paint.

Any tricks to re-installing painted parts?

Front fender you have to remove the wheel because there are tabs on the bolts you have to bend flat to remove the bolts PITA. Tank is very easy, a few bolts, vent line and fuel line which has a quick disconnect. Rear fender will take the most time to remove. You should invest is a shop manual which gives you step by step instructions.

Trick to installing painted parts is take your time and have somebody help you.

I've got a manual. It just doesn't explain how difficult it is. I wasn't sure if I wanted to tackle it myself or pay an extra $200 in labor to have the painter do it.

Thanks for the input.

IF the $200.00 includes the painter reinstalling the fenders and tank I'd pay it because I would probably scratch something trying to reinstall them.

It's also on him if it does get scratched.

I would pay the 200 & make sure to take photos with time stamp before you drop off the bike. Make sure no new dents show up before he paints. I wish I could be more trusting but just can't.

To answer your question its easy, & no you don't need to drop the tire to remove the front fender. At least on mine I dont.
