FLHX Coasting Noise

FLHX Coasting Noise
I have a 2010 Street Glide... when slowing to a stop a humming noise can be heard from the rear half of the bike. With the radio down and bike in neutral I can hear a Wowowowowow noise coming from the bike. Heard it may be just the belt. Worse today as it is 100 degrees in MN. It's not coming from the brakes and tires look good. She only has 2200 miles... Hoping it's just a tight belt... that's an easy fix after a couple good burnouts. Any ideas?? Thanks!

Will be an interesting thread - only had my '07 fatboy (3600 miles) for three weeks - when coasting, kind of sounds like a car going over cobblestones at high speed. Worried about it for a few days; couldn't find much in threads and decided it was belt noise; not sure how to tell. Cheers, Kevin.

Rub your hand across your tire tread, if it feels uneven then that is the noise, if not it could be your belt adjustment. I had the noise on my 04 Springer Classic, my 02 Night Train and both had belts out of adjustment. My 08 Street Glide makes no noise except when breaking, at low speed, that is the pads on the rotors due to the holes in the rotor. I suppose coasting your pads could be touching the rotor enough to make noise also, try lightly applying rear brakes and see if it changes.

Ride her hard. You have some breaking in to do...your covered. The only noise I hear I'm thinking comes from my gears...sort of a low key but audible whine...I heard some stuff about 5th gear not being cut helical as 6th is but I hear it in all the gears once she's hot.
I changed the trans fluid and saw nothing unusual so I just ignore it.

Thanks for the input... I rode her today and the noise is not nearly as bad. Temp is down around 70 today and not 100 like yesterday. Guessing it's the belt. BARRYGREEN the brakes do not effect the noise at all. Beemervet I am humming the noise now... can you hear it? I like "ride her hard"... Thanks
