Default Progressive shocks

I just put Progressive 440 IAS shocks on my 08 Street Glide. The ride is no better than stock, its like they have no travel. You hit a bump and you chip a tooth. Any tips to dialing these shocks in?

did you get the hd springs? Pre load set to high? I had 440's standard springs (weigh 200# and wife 150#) had a great ride. solo I would have preload about 1 turn from softest and with pass. 4 turns from softest.

Going for higher performance components is not always the same as more cush for the tush. I had the same experience when I put them on a goldwing when progressive first came out with that series. Yes it did hug the road better, but would also spill your coffee all over the place from your cup holder.

I might have suggested the 940's seem to ride much better than the 440's jmho

What length shock did you put on? 12"? 11.5? Unload the shocks. My 12" 440s ride like a dream. Very controlled without bouncing, just a gel like compression and release. Much better than my 13 air shocks that came stock.

Do these things come with any instructions? Are they available on the website? In my experience shocks need setting up to suit the actual weight of the rider(s), such as sag, as already mentioned. Sounds as if you don't have enough.

Sounds like a setup challenge. Give us a bit more info and we'll point you in the right direction.

1) Shocks are shipped full soft

2) Standard or heavy duty?

3) What length shock?

4) Weight of the rider?

Here's a quick primer on setting sag.
