Might as well go 98" instead of 95", and get all you can out of it.

I don't want to have to cut the cases. I want to just bolt on cylinders.

I agree with the headwork.....I have been reading all over the forum on this because I need to do the cam plate tensioner upgrade.

From what I have been reading....cams and head work for the 88 will get you the most bang for the buck with or without the bigger bore.

I am upgrading my cams and then over winter, I will pull the heads and have them done, then get the bike dyno'd. I'm not going to the bigger bore.

Of course...I have the Powervision from fuelmoto and can load maps for upgrades...the cams I am using are cams that fuelmoto is comfortable with...so map matching should be good until the headwork and dyno.

98" bolts right on...... Any bigger and you have to go in the cases.

I did the 551s and 95 kit from s&s. Gained great passing power not sure its worth the money cuz its not knock ur socks off gain, bit for sure noticeable. Just rode 1k trip no problem.

i just put a pretty big set of cams (se211) in my 88 and the top end is night and day from stock. bottom end is definitely softer, but worth the trade off IMO (for the way i ride my bike)
i have a 97" kit on the way as i type, ill prob do something with the heads while i have them off...
i cant imagine the big bore kit NOT being worth it.
i will report back

Very glad I did it. Did all the work myself so it was not terribly expensive. Found the 95" kit on Ebay....silver and painted the jugs with BBQ grill paint. Looks great! Also replaced the leaking valve stem seals with ones from Big Boyz and NO more oil burn. No head work but might consider it later. Low end grunt with Andrews 21 grind cams is DEFINITELY better than stock. The factory 88 TC is gasping for air without better mufflers, intake and fuel management. Need to address every element here for the best results. But, you don't have to do it all at once.

I wouldn't take my 96" (10K miles 07 twin cam) bike out of state with out a complete tool kit, acccess to the internet, paid up road side assistance, and contacts in each city along the way.

For 1 you are comparing a bored out 88'' to a newer 96'' motor, differant animal. the 96'' motors have weak crank assembly's. 88'' is forged crank vs cast in the 96 so it gets crank end wobble, so when punched to 103 or 110 it gets worse.

I have both a nasty 95'' in my 01' WG, and a 96'' in my 07' SG, just some cam and light head work.

Both motors have thousands of trouble free miles. and the 07' 96'' is my burn out bike so it see's alot of abuse, I'm on my 2nd trans.

for you to say you wouldn't take your 07' 96'' engine out of state w/o a wrecker behind you is just the stupidest fu@kin thing I have heard all day.
