Those seem like some big numbers. The Fuel Moto 98 kit with 10 to 1 compression and the Woods cam isn't breaking 100 until they do the heads. Makes me wonder if we are talking about differences in dyno's.

[quote=mrmud4x4;8467627]I agree with the headwork....

Of course...I have the Powervision from fuelmoto and can load maps for upgrades...

That power vision is the ****. It Holds 6 tunes to flash to your ecm. I have 3 . economy ( miles per gal ), performance and a tune for my squeeze.

I also was thinking about this upgrade on my 2001 SG. The bike has 27K on the clock. Should I be worried about upgrading the bottom end too? I hear a lot of good things about this up grade but what are we taking about in price? Do most folks install it their self or do the have a dealer or shop do this? If you have a shop (non-harley) do it what do you think the cost is?

It's been done, as you can tell by all the posts here. My local indy swears up & down any big bore is pointless unless your willing to get the head work done to match the build.

You can buy each part and then do up your build.

As to if a dealer can tell if the motor has had work.. nope they can't. I bought a Ultra that was sold to me as stock... turned out had cam work , new SE Cam plate and a few other oddities.

Head work is a must, to get every cent out of your build.

The tech that did the work wasnt sure how it would turn out either with stock heads. When i went in to pick up the bike the service writer had a monster smile on his face and told me it was over 100hp. He called the tech in to talk to me and again with a big grin showed me the dyno papers. He or i couldnt believe it. My bike was the guinnea pig on their new dyno so im not sure if that had anything to do with it but i did have the papers showing 103hp. I believe the stock heads gave it monster compression and the tech warned me about the lack of compression releases but i never had a problem until about 5k miles later when i crashed the bike

I went 95" on a stock '05 RG and it's been great. 75,000 miles, zero problems and good performance. You can spend thousands of dollars on whatever upgrades but the 95" upgrade gives you good performance with NO reliability compromise.
