Default 2011 street glide backrest on sundowner?

Can the same backrest from a 2010-11 street glide be used with a 2011 sundowner? I'm talking the non-adjustable backrest (which is actually adjustable but not via wire on the fly). Been getting opposing answers on this.

If you're talking about the HD quick-release Short and Standard height uprights, I think it would be more practical to go with a Standard height upright, given the additional height of the Sundowner.

Cool. Yeah I know the seat will fit, but I had folks telling me there was a proprietary back rest for the sundowner. I was at a dealer and wanted to ask Saturday, but the place was mobbed and I couldn't get any time with anyone to ask. I did look at a sundowner seat while there and it did NOT have hole going all the way through to accept the backrest...was that because it was a demo seat only? I don't know, but added to my question instead of answering it.

So you have all the info; the backrest I have is 51631-09a

Just trying to be sure I can use it with the sundowner for my 2011 road king

Thanks to everyone

Based upon your part number, I misunderstood your question, Night Train. When you used the term "backrest" by itself, I thought you meant the passenger backrest.

The data on the Sundowner says that it accepts a rider backrest, but as you say, it doesn't appear that the seat is slotted. So how would the rider backrest attach? It's a mystery to ME.

Maybe someone who knows better will chime in.

The Sundowner seat on my '11 SG has the slot for the riders backrest.
I don't have/use a riders backrest, but can't see why it wouldn't fit both seats.

I have a 2010 street glide with the matching rider and passenger backrests. I put the rider backrest on my sundowner and it works just fine. The sundowner does have a slot for the backrest, the seat you saw must have been a demo. You just need the backrest bracket to mount below the seat. Gallery pic below.
