Plug wires?

Are you experiencing any misfiring under load (acceleration from a low RPM)?
If the engine is wet; such as in the rain or on a misty morning or evening are you getting any misfiring?
Either of these are an indication of a Secondary Ignition problem. However distinguishing between a Ignition Coil, Plug Wire or Spark Plug failure can only be done for sure using an Engine Oscilloscope. The test that is done is called the "Available Secondary Voltage" test.
In truth, with that many miles on your bike; while it might be better from a technical point of view to test the system on an Engine Oscilloscope, it might be a better economical decision to simply replace the wires.

With 57k the cost of a new set of plugs may if nothing else give you peace of mind. I not long ago replaced mine with chromite wires. I soon thereafter developed sputtering problems which turned out to be a defective Autolite plug I had just changed. Prior to the problem being found I installed a set of SE wires. All is now good.
