Default SE Compensator after 20,000 miles..

Pulled the primary on my 07 RK to have a look..Bike just turned 38,000 and did the upgrade at 18,000..The compensator has a shine on what I would call the ramps about 1/3 to half of the travel..Guess this is all normal.

Let me guess you used atf or Redline MTL? Seems to happen with those fluids, formula plus has been the best choice for me i hope thats not what your useing. By the way did you get to the bottom of the belt adjustment with the new Ohlin's? Boy i found an issue with those new rear axle cam adjusters on one of my bikes one side was way out of sinc with the welded cam adjuster to the axle belt running hard against one side of the pulley.

I did mine at 17,000 miles. No more loud knock on start up.

What ever you are useing for fluid in there stick with it. ATF and Redline MTL start a red rusty goo called fretting slinging out of the sprocket bore. That shinny wear on the cam and ramps is common because of the design and would look galled and rough if it was tearing itself apart with an atf or other light lube. You will always find metal dust on the magnet in the primary from the compensator ramps and the steel clutch plates along with the chain and sprocket. It aloso sticks to the magnets on the stator flywheel.

I've used both the Drag Specialties Primary Fluid and Formula +. Both seem to work better than the Amsoil ATF I was using prior to the first replacement. But I can feel the thing slapping around inside the primary when I release the clutch lever...Like a ton of driveline lash, just like last time. I've gotten to the point that I'm thoroughly disgusted with the bike...Seems like there's something wearing out or breaking every few months.

Oh, and I think I got the belt tension thing figured out, just in time to have picked up a nail in the back tire. So when I get the tire replaced (thank you ESP!), I'll have them double-check how I've got it set.

This is the first post I have seen with anyone trashing the SE Compensator so quickly. With 17K miles on the original in my 2010 StreetGlide I am still waiting for it to grenade within the 24 month warranty.
