Check the Roll Off switch on the throttle cable (right side of the neck) unplug it then try the cruise. If it works replace the throttle cable.

Check to see that neither brake switch is activating the brake light. You can also check the roll off switch for the system that it is operating properly. It's located in the throttle cable and has 2 wires coming off it.

I have an 08 Electra Glide Classic that had the problem with the throttle position sensor. I took it to the Harley shop so they could download the fix and when the tech downloaded the software he also turned off the cruise option.

I metered all my switches, all were fine then decided to take it to the dealership to see if the option could be disabled....Just so happens it can and it was. The tech hooked up the laptop to the ECM, turned the cruise back on and all is working great again.

Not sure if something can turn it off without being connected to the ECM i.e. electrical spike or something weird but may be worth a try if all else fails.

By the way, all my dash lights worked for the cruise except the orange light wouldn't turn green when cruise was set.
