A 17 x4.5 or an 18 x 5.5 wheel will fit if you change the rear fender

The largest issue is not the wheel but the fender width and belt width

I have an 04 road glide with a 17 x 4.5 wheel. To make it fit required a rear fender change

Im still running t h e original belt

If you use an early ball-bearing (not tapered bearing) FatBoy 3x16 wheel you'll be fine, however you will need to swap the 3/4" bearings for 1", which will need a new inner sleeve, also the hub will need to be machined to take that larger diameter spacer. Harley sells a bearing kit which comes with bearings and spacer. So it won't fit without mods, but they are easy to do.

I'm running a solid Deuce wheel in my 1990 bike, with an 04 swingarm, having modified the rear fender. It is not a bolt-in, you need to do some handiwork.

Wink

This is the bearing kit. From what I can make out you need wheel #41058-00A, which was only available on 2000-3 models. Earlier ones are not suitable, even though they look similar, later ones are 17x4.5. There are a few suitable wheels on Ebay as we speak! I only buy wheels without a tyre, partly to reduce shipping costs, but also so I can fit my preferred brand.
