Default primary bearing - where's the race?

Here's a picture of an inner primary bearing. Is the race attached to the shaft, or is there no race?

Yeah, it's on the shaft. I think Baker makes a replacement for that piece that is superior to the stock one.

It's on the shaft. If you have to replace, the S$S tapered unit is a good replacement and not prone to "walking" like the OEM piece.

Baker and All ***** offer a primary bearing that has the race included and the OEM race on the shaft is eliminated. Bad reports on the Baker unit.

great picture....I was going to buy a used inner primary cover and have it sent out for a new bearing.....but that would still leave the issues of replacing the race on the shaft....seems like the tool is almost 300 bucks...hate to put a torch on the race to get it off and risk melting seals....Ive dremel cut races in the past successsfully, but I always had access to the whole length of the race....how are you folks removing this???

What year is your bike? How many miles? Assuming you have a newer one, I think the Baker and SS only fits the TC88's. The puller tool works well, but you can dremel it off. I started with the puller on mine, but the shop's tool was getting stripped so I ended taking a dremel to it and wrapped the shaft in several layers of masking tape and went slow. It came right off no problem. Pressing one on is easy.

there is a certain distance that the new one is to be pressed on measure the gap from the old one and install the new one in the exact same place it does make a difference ( within a few thousandths)

To the OP.....sorry for the thread hi-jack.
