I know Jamie is busy, but I'm really interested in seeing the updates.

Our first Twin Cam 88 tests were a couple of cam swaps, and we updated the cam plate. For these models I highly recommend updating the cam plate to the newer style 2012 spec components which replaces the wear prone early style inner/outer spring tensioners with late model hydraulic tensioners. We are using the Wood's RCC-2 which comes as a complete kit and includes the cam support plate, hydraulic inner/outer tensioners, cam chains and sprockets, new SE oil pump, Torrington inner cam bearings, and all other necessary hardware, orings, etc.. Here are a few pictures of the cam plates

We tested a couple of Woods cams in the TC88. With the updated cam plate it is required to use "R" series cams of the Wood's assortment which are roller conversion cams for the TC88 motors (except 06 Dyna)

The first test we did was the TW6-6R which is the R version of the popular TW6. The TW6-6R has .510 lift and will work with the stock valve springs in all TC88 motors. With 40 degree closing on the intake with 240 degrees of duration on both intake and exhaust this makes for a very good bolt on cam, it makes great power thru out the RPM range with a good boost in power. Here are a few dyno charts

The second test was with a new cam we had Bob Wood make for us the TW-555-6R. This is a TC88 conversion cam version of the Knight Prowler TW-555 which has proven to be one of the best all around cams on the market for late model motors. We have put this cam in many 96, 103, and 107" motors with excellent results. This cam is really a variation of the TW6-6 with more lift and slightly more duration on the intake. It has .555 lift with 242 degrees of duration, and the intake closes at 41 degrees. With .555 lift it is required on 99-04 TC88's that you replace the valve springs with these cams, however 05-06 heads w/factory beehive springs do not require replacement. Because our test bike was an 05 we just swapped cams and went back to the dyno. The TW-555-6R has an excellent power curve and provides exactly what most are looking for from a cam swap. It makes +7Hp and 9Tq overall with a very strong curve and with these bolt ons we are not up +12Hp and +15Tq from when we started with the SE mufflers, AC and download compared to the Jackpot mufflers, Power Commander and TW-555-6R cams.

How much different would you expect the results to be with some headwork? I'm talking a low cost street head type porting. I would like to see closer to 100/100 numbers

Head work will certainly help, but the easiest way increase output is by increasing the displacement and compression. We have this motor now built as a 98" and have been testing a few things. We will also be testing cylinder heads with the 98" as well.

Subscribed. Anxious to see the 98" with cams and head work.

I missed the fact that these were tests with an 88 inch motor. I assumed that you already had done the 98 inch conversion. DOH!
