Default 09 Ultra Fuel Filter Change (EASY!)

I did some reading at https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...9-touring.html

It has Pics so us Jarheads can even use it!

So anyway, back to my post....

I bought the fuel filter from local Dealer for $17, they quoted me $122 installed.

Here is what I did....

Unbolted the spine on the tank (2 bolts)
Moved it to the side.
Used the spark plug wrench that came with my Harley kit as my "blunt" object
Tapped it with my torque wrench three times and it popped off.
Removed the fuel housing/pump assembly, kinda pain in the *** to manuever correctly. Unhooked one line to break pressure.
Remover/replaced filter.
Put it all back together.

Harley was going to charge me $100 to put it in..... I did it in 20 minutes. Harley is a rip-off.
One of the easiest tasks I have done on the Harley to date.

I highly recommend learning to do it yourselves.

Side note: I replaced it due to my HD hesitating and sputtering. I neglected to replace it for 50k. I learned my lesson.

It was BLACK.

But when you do it yourself, your hands smell like gas.
Oh, wait, that's men's cologne. Women love it!

That "blunt object" should be non-ferrous so you don't create a spark.

Good point. Didn't think of that part. I will adjust for future filter changes.
Thanks brother.

I probably shouldn't have been smoking while doing it. (Jk)

Brother, no joke, you saved me $100+ bucks. If we were IVO each other, I would definitely buy you a couple rounds.

Between youtube, fixmyhog.com and this forum, I have saved thousands of dollars that I would have otherwise sunk into stealer maintenance.

No joke.
