Cool 2011 Ultra Limited Leaking

Howdy,
Just purchased a 2011 Ultra limited and I love it. I took it in for its 1K servicing with everything running smoothly. I picked the bike up and rode it from Houston to El Paso. While enroute I noticed a clear fluid on the cam cover plate. Took it into the dealership and they told me it was a bad engine oil cooler gasket. They fixed it and I knocked out a 300 mile trip around NM. I again noticed the leak in the same area. I attached photos of the leaking, and I believe it is coming from the rear brake master cylinder. I just wanted to get some opinions on what it might be before I take it back to the dealer for trouble shooting/fixing.

Thanks,
59

Do you have an oil type air filter, K&N, V&H, etc. Could be over oiled, mine did a bit in the same area after I added a little oil to the filter

Clean all the oil off. Then take a short ride. The first thing I would check are the two hex/allen screws by the oil filter facing the front on the bike. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the top screw. It was loose. Good luck.

I have a 2010 Limited, and was plagued with an oil leak for about 3k miles when it was new. Turned out to be the exact hex/allen screws talked about here, my bike is now leak free. My leaks were on the cam cover just like yours.

Good luck!

I will go check out the front side of the oil filter this morning and hopefully that fixes the problem.

Did you figure the leak out? I have some oil leaking between the front jug and the block. I am wonder if maybe it is coming from the filter area. Dealer said could be the oring that seals the block and jug. Not really a drip, more like it is misted on the area.

If you want to rule out brake fluid, take some of the fluid that's on your cam cover and wipe it on an old painted surface. If the paint bubbles, it's brake fluid.

I am going to tighten up the the front nuts on the oil filter, then take it for a ride this evening when it gets cooler. If i see the mystery fluid on the cam cover again I will do the paint test to see if its brake fluid. If it is still leaking i'm taking it to the dealer in the morning and getting them to figure it out. Either way I will let ya'll know what the source is. Thanks again for the help.

UPDATE:
Sorry for the delay. I took the bike back to the dealership to investigate the leak. They inspected the oil cooler and tightened the nuts on it and told me it was good to go (the first time they replaced the oil cooler gasket). I was unable to ride last week due to work. I rode it 27 miles today (to work and back) and once again noticed the fluid on the cam case. I went ahead and checked the two hex bolts on the front side of the oil FILTER and indeed they were loose. I tightened them tonight and will spray wash the area tomorrow morning then ride it hard after work to see if that solved the problem. I will let yall know. Thanks again for the help.
