Default Question on color schemes

Hello all. New to the forum and I am looking for a little help. I am looking to purchase a 2009 electra glide ultra classic in the 2 tone root beer color. I love the color and found the bike I want but the color scheme looks different than all the pics I have seen on the 2009 models and the tank has a different emblem

Basically the ones I have seen pics of on line look like this;

But the one I am thinking of buying looks like this. It's a different color scheme and different tank emblem. Were these both produced in 2009 or is there something wrong with the 2009 I am looking at?

Thanks for helping out. I am looking forward to contributing more to this site as I get more into my riding

That looks like a "Limited" to me and I didn't think they made that model until 2010.

I hope you aren't buying this on Graggs List and they want you send them some money before you see it in person.

Well.....

He's copied the paint scheme of the Ultra Limited, and even has Limited badging on the tank the front fender, but Limiteds were first introduced in 2010 - and not in Root Beer.

Here's a link for the first year paint: http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...S#/model/flhtk

Thanks guys. I am looking on chopper exchange. It's a dealer in Florida who ships. Not a Harley dealer...all makers, but he does sell a lot of Harley's with great referrals. I am wondering if it is the 2010 limited but was purchased on 2009 when the model was 1st introduced?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Run the VIN and you'll get all the facts.

Great looking bike!! Nice choice (whatever you end-up with).

Yep. Now I am confused. It is listed as an 09 but is not the right color scheme. I can't find root beer available in that color scheme until 2011 on the limited. But it's got 24,000 miles on it. Is that possible in basically a year's time? I guess it is especially if it is a Florida bike but why would it be listed as an 09 ultra classic instead of the 2011 limited? Confusing

um, search and read the post from last week about a guy who had a bike shipped from a dealer...when the bike was not what was represented it got quite complicated

no matter where you are- there is a great bike for sale within 20 miles.

look close. go see it.

the first one is an ultra classic, the second is a 2011 Ultra Limited with the 103". similar root beer colors but the design is "flip flopped".

The advantage of going to see bikes is that in time you will be better able to determine what you are looking at- and that experience is very helpful when you are looking to drop 15 or 20 grand on a toy

colors are introduced and retired all the time to make exciting a new product that is very similar to last years.--- been doing it a long time, my '53 is a special '53 only color- then '54 has a special color available too. Both are pretty much the same as a 1949 model.

09- when you think about it- the 2012 models are out---that is a THREE year old bike, not 1 year

Until that is done, everything else is just a "guess".
Once you know what the real year/model is, go from there.
