Glad to hear they are taking care of it. That would have been a tough pill to swallow.

The problems have been ongoing since the 96's intro w/ a six speed. 06 Dyna and 07 FL's.
HD revised the inner race somewhat in 08 (to metric 25mm), but I think it was more a response to the trans issues of the early 6 speeds.
The same bearing has been used since.
Judging from what some posters replied earlier in this thread (HD replacing cases), I think my original conclusion of bore miss-alignment may have been accurate?
Good to know as I have already replaced a Main Drive Gear Bearing. Which seems like either that or the IPB are are the sacrifice for the miss-alignment. Since both are pretty stout bearings!
Glad they covered it for you!

Still Waiting
After dropping off on Thursday of last week, got my first update on this past Saturday. Primary is removed, Bearing race is seized on the Tranny shaft. Dealer not open on Sun or Mon. So now it's Tues and hope they can get it off today and reinstall everything.
On the brighter side of it all, HD is paying for everything. (upgraded clutch and drum assy., compensator sprocket, starter and front rotors as well.) Sure am glad I purchased an extended warranty with this one......
Can't wait to get it back. Supposed to be leaving around 5 am tomm for the state rally and of course teh weather right now is >>>>>>>>

Is that what the dealer told you? "The race is seized on the tranny shaft".
Technically it's supposed to be! It's an interference fit and requires a press, on and off. Which is accomplished with a special tool. The race is actually separate from the bearing, but they function as one when assembled.
Anyway - glad they're taking care of it for you.
Enjoy your trip!
