Yes, the race is seized on the shaft. The removal tool wouldn't even fit behind the race to remove it. (The lip of the tool is supposed to sit behind the race to enable you to pull it off.) Well 13 days and counting.... I did get to make it to the State Ralley on a 0 12 model at no cost to me of course. The ESP picked up the rental cost and my local dealer paid the taxes....

I just cut mine off with a Dremel tool and chisel. 13 days is BS. I did mine in a couple days and I'm not a tech. My bike runs great now...changed compensating sprocket at same time.

13 days? Are they waiting for it to fall off? Aint gonna happen.
Since they can't get behind the race, there's really no alternatitve but to cut it off.

They actually had it done this past Wednesday but I wasn't around to pick it up until Sunday. Dealer is closed on Sun and Mon so I got it back yesterday.

Now I have to get used to it all over again

Mine sounded like an a cross between an air leak and two metal peices being rubbed together. Not necessariy a grinding noise but more of a scraping noise. Did it at Idle or in gear, but sound went away everytime you pulled in or engaged the clutch lever.

Good description. Mine went out on my '08 UC, and that's a good way to describe the noise it was making.

Sons 10 St G had his IPB go out at 23k in Aug, Service did say they've had 15 or so go bad this summer and that MoCo has warrantied most of them,, BUT,, after several calls by dealer He found out that they will cover 07, 08, 09, and 11's but not the 10's..
That seems weird.. but its what it is..

Dealer is saying either they or MoCo?? claims it's caused by Using a GL in the tranny, instead of using a good syn 20-50 or Formula+.

I know a bunch of members in here use GL in the tranny and I've not heard its causing the IPB to go bad.

I've used Mobil 1 75-90 for last 30k and all is fine , but I did change tranny back to Mobil 1 V twin 20-50 last month, so Far I am just as pleased with it as I was with the GL. ????

Just hope they didn’t replace it with the same crappy parts.
Mine went out on my dyna at about 25000mi sounds like a diesel truck idling.
I had mine done at a local Indy, didn't want to hassle with the dealer and an out of warranty issue. Replaced it with the Baker bearing and made a gearing change at the same time.I have a feeling that if you use the Harley bearing you'll be back in a few years doing it all over again.
