Default valve stem problem

I was checking my Ultra Classic rear tire pressure, while I open the the valve stem cap I hear air leak, then I shake the stem and the inside brass pipe comes out.

Get a new one, this time put in a 90 degree valve stem. I'm not saying they last longer but they are much easier to use.

Agree w/jjnoble = 90-degree stems make access much better. Looks like this one was indeed a defect.

The stem is shot.Besides it falling apart,I can see cracks at the base.

Rubber valvestems dont last forever and can fail before the tire wears out.

When did you replace your front tire and was it done at the same place as the back? You might want to consider replacing it as well. I seem to remember that a few years back a slug of faulty valve stems came into NA from a certain Asian country. It may be that the person who did your tires had some of these around their shop.

Thank you, I will replace the front valve stem also.

I will put the metal one but not the 90 degree valve stem, because 90 degree valve stem not available yet here.

Order one from the internet, there are several places to choose from. You are not planning on buying one from the dealer are you?
