Thinking about getting the Boom Audio saddlebag lid speaker kit. Already have the boom audio amp and fairing speakers on my 11 SG.
Can the rider hear the saddlebag lid speakers in town on and the highway? thanks Mort
I was looking into the boom audio saddlebag lid speakers for my Ultra as well. I've looked at several setups and seems these may be the best bang for the buck on lid speakers.
I don't have the HD lids. I went with the Cycle Sounds lids and a set of ARC Audio 6x9 with an ARC 125.2 amp. I can hear them fine until about 50mph, then they fade away. My passenger can hear them good at about any speed though.
I believe the HD lids only accept a 5x7 speaker, so they are probably not going to be capable of the volume a 6x9 can put out.
you should be able to hear your saddlebag speakers while riding. that's if you stay under 768 miles per hour. above that, you'll be travelling faster than the speed of sound and won't be able to hear them.

I was or am considering the same thing. Hd dealer recommended installing the fairing amp and speakers first but I was apprehensive about how well they work. Do you.like your set up?
A buddy has the 2012 CVO Street Glide and he says he can hear the saddlebag lid speakers at 80 mph; the bike uses a 100W per channel amp for the lid speakers and it's located in the left saddlebag.
I wouldn't expect to hear much from the HD kit w/o an add-on amp at highway speeds.
I have been wanting to add the H-D saddlebag speakers to my 2011 cvo street glide, but dealer and parts book both say it is NOT possible! Has anyone installed these on there 2011 FLHXSE2 ??? Thanks for the help. Any info and or pictures would be great.
