Type of roads and riding styles can make all the difference, am sure heating cycles have their effect too.. Being retired I seldom crank it up and go less than 100 miles .. I got 20K out of my Original rear tire on the 09 Ultra before changing .. Have heard some say I wouldn't get more than 6K on the rear out of the Metz Tires put on the FXR.. Have 5K now and they look almost new yet ..

Yep roads play a big factor or lack there of, also weight, driving style and maintenance. You'd be suprised how many run with the wrong inflation PSI. Some where between tire manufacturer and Harley is the right pressure.

Over 18,000 miles on my original rear tire on my 2010 FLHTC. Just about to wear bars.

Likes already been said, it depends on the roads and your riding style. I ride mostly in the twisties and not too agressive. I replaced the stock 407 on my 2010 RK at 17K. Could have gotten a couple more thousand out of it. I replaced it with an American Elite. So far, I like it better than the 407. Front 408 is still looking good at close to 20K. I run 40 PSI front and rear.

I have 17k on my bike and the rear has tread left, but is starting to cup so I am going to replace it in a couple of weeks. Front looks good, but I may replace both with American Elite's at the same time.

You won't regret it .. is what I did as well with my 09 and had 18K+ on the Am Elites when changed because had a 2K+ trip coming up and didn't want to be stuck at someones mercy on a road trip ..
