Replacing w/Chrome Inner Primary - Bearing Question?
I just removed my inner primary to install a chrome inner primary I purchased off ebay on my 07 Ultra. The new inner primary did not come with a bearing.
What should I do?
Should I install a Harley bearing in the inner primary and not worry about the inner race on the trans shaft? Or should I replace the inner race as well?
What about a Baker inner primary bearing? Is it a better choice?
Finally, I do not have a press for the bearing. Can I support the bottom and tap the bearing in with a socket (or similar) of the same size?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

You will have to use HD bearing Baker inly good for 06 and older. If the race is in spec measured from the correct face then it has not walked so if surfaces are all good I would not worry to much about it. Yes the bearing presses in fairly easy but those cases are brittle so if you dont have the right tool go have it pressed in. Make sure retainer clip is oreiented per manual for the oiling journal. Change all the seals you can while your in there too.
