Here's a tool I made. I needed something that I could use to ride my bike while the **** was removed for a few days so I made this tool.

This tool is made from a 1/4-20 x 4" stainless bolt. Cut the head off, hammer/grind/file the shank into shape, use the threaded end to attach a nylon centering bushing, fender washer for depth control, and plastic handle.

Got everything needed at a local home center for less than $10.00.

Obviously this took a little longer to make than simply flattening and bending a piece of tubing, but I enjoy making "stuff" so the time was not an issue. If you need something quick and right now, the tubing tool fits the bill.

You can also use a screwdriver and a flashlight if you have to.

Just shine a flashlight down the hole and look to see where to line it up, not that hard.

Hi Guys,

Ken from HomemadeTools.net here. We appreciate the creativity and ingenious solutions found everywhere builders of homemade tools congregate.

Great little switch aligner; a simple and elegant solution. As a rider myself (Triumph & Ducati nowadays), I know how handy this could be...

You don't need to make anything!!! A larger flat blade screw driver fits perfectly in there and allows you to turn it where you need it.

Save your time and money and just open your tool box. I have done this a couple times when I change my fork oil on my Ultra Classic and its fool proof

I've tried using a large screwdriver but something isn't working right. I spin it clockwise, here it 'click' but bars are still locked. Turn more, click, but still locked. I'm not understanding why it won't unlock. Help!!!!

Nevermind. I got a smaller screwdriver & a better flashlight. Piece of cake! It was blatantly obvious once I could see everything down there. Thanks!
