Your first part number is the new numbering system they started using in 2011 so presumably it's a part for a newer bike or has been updated from the second part number you list which has a suffix from model year 2000.

From the P&A catalog:
50000023 fits '91+ Touring
50233-00 fits '84+ Touring AND '86-'06 Softails except FLSTN

The newer one looks spiffier with holes and the older one has a slot. So the appearance has changed thus the new part number.

yeah, the part has a "new" flag on it...no instructions, and just one vague picture that doesn't really give a good idea of how it fits or where it goes when the bike is standing.

oh well.

looks like in the new design, you don't have to drill through the stand itself (which can potentially weaken it). Instead you drill through the tab that you would hook with your boot to raise and lower it.

new design looks like the way to go.

thanks!

also, I think you have them backwards in your illustration.

When I go to Harley's genuine motor accessory page I think the photos you show are reversed. The -23 bolts to the existing tab - which is a very weak part of the kickstand. This is the piece that keeps bending on my OE kickstand. The 233-00 bolts to the kickstand above the OE kicker and in my opinion is a much better accessory.
