How to choose windshield height?

All the over and under is worth considderation, but combined with that decide how much wind do you want in your face. Looking over it is good, if you can get along with the wind in your face. Also, if you are going to listen to music, the sound bounces off the windshield - the shorter the shield, the weaker the sound.

I also have a RK Custom and I am your size (+/- 1/2") and I have a 17" Clearview recurve detachable windshield. I look over the top of it and have ridden with it in hot, dry, cold, and wet conditions and I am completely satisfied with it. The top comes to about my chin or maybe my nose but the recurve directs the wind over my head. If wearing a helmet, I get no buffeting and when helmetless I can feel a nice slight breeze on the top of my head.
P.S. I usually ride with a Corbin classic solo and back rest but it works the same with the stock seat.

My rule in the past has been I have to see over the top and not thru it. I have recently made an acception but come spring that rule will go into effect. The 6.5 inch Klock Werks will be back on as soon as avg temp is 60 plus. On more than one occasion done 500 plus miles in a day with that sheild with no problems. Like the wind in my face
I realize the King is a different animal up front so if i had a King and rode with a shield I guess the break line/ cut line would have to be below my normal sight line. With that said what are you looking for, to look over or thru a sheild? Both provide protection.

Thanks for all the replies guy. I am narrowing down my choices to a shield that I could see over. The recurve type is also sounding better and better to me. One other thing I will only use the shield on trips over a 150+ miles days. I also plan to get a module helmet for touring trips. I use a half helmet when I am riding close to home.
