I guess I am the odd man out on this thread. I was not aware that there was a new unit; tells me that something was basically wrong with the early ones; the two I pruchased were a more than two years back. What is the PN for the newere style.. The unit is pretty convenient, I just haven't had any success

Thanks everyone for the input.. Will most likely try one ..but no ..not in place of regular checks.. Just looking for something if i'm out on a long ride ,make a stop ,i can eyeball it instead of trying to stick my hand between the pipe and motor when it;s warm...just for ..a piece of mind thing,,

I have had one on a 2004 Ultra and currently one on my 2010 Ltd. The one on the 04 worked just fine, and the one on my 2010 has worked flawlessly going on two years. They seem to be very accurate. I always punch it after a ride to take a quick look at the oil temp.

Bought one to do a double check on the fairing oil gauge to make sure it was working correctly and it was.
Used the LED Dipstick for about 5-6 rides and when felt confident that the faring oil gauge was working right, sold it on this site.

LED? I believe it's actually LCD.

LED is an abbreviation for "Light Emitting Diode. LCD is an abbreviation for "Liquid Crystal Display".

I think that there is no substitute for a manual hot check.... BUT... if you have the HD approved digital dipstick, and you are under factory warranty and/or have the extended warranty, then it would seem that you could use that as "back-up" to prove that you regularly check your oil level before and after every ride.
