Default Bending Gas Tank Emblems

Just bought a couple gas tank emblems to go on my EG when I get it back from the paint man. The emblems are supposed to be on a sportster, but I thought they'd look cool on my touring bike. Anyway my question is how easy is it to break the emblems while trying to re-bend them to fit this tank? I have messed with them enough to see they bend easy, but I haven't really done much since I don't have a tank to see where they really need to be bent. I know I'm gonna have to be careful to get them bent the way they need to be, just wondering how fragile they really are??

Thanks

-if they are metal then warm them in the oven when you get the tank.

Its a metal emblem with a red insert. Guessing the insert is plastic. I'll try the warming them when I get ready to install them. Does make sence that would make them less brittle.

Thanks

Bought some Tank emblems from an old Cross Bones for my Ultra. They were Metal and bent very easy. Just go slow and keep checking the fit on the Tank before you attempt to apply them for keeps.

when i installed some on my heritage ( i think they were the 1956 ones ) i scribed a piece of cardboard to match the radius of the tank ....thon transposed it to the side of a 2x4 ,and cut it with a band saw.....i than put the emblem on the 2x4 a gently rounded it to the radius with a mallet and block of wood.... worked great ....last i saw the old bike they were still on....been 7 years now
