I am picking up my new Road King from Heritage H-D in Fort Walton Beach, FL in a few weeks. I ordered it through military sales...and I'm still over seas.
When I asked about the tax and registration, they said to just write them a "blank check" and they will handle it. What? Give an H-D dealer a blank check? Huh? WTF over?
Has anyone had this experieince and is this normal business practice to ask for undetermined funds?
I vote don't do it. If you give them a blank check you might as well write one for $1,000,000 and hand it to em. Make them give you the total and you can send them the written check. Thats just stupid of them to ask that, they know better. Good luck.
Ahhhhhhhhh thats fing funny a harley dealer asking for a blank check no way in hell would i give a dealer a blank check or anyone for that matter. Its not rocket science to figure out the numbers on tax and reg for you and let you write a check for that amount.
WTF! Dealers can estimate the costs, and overestimate. They should give you a figure that is a little high, then send you a check in the mail for the difference.
If your going to send a blank check, make sure it is REALLY blank......no name,no account number, and no signature!!
+1 on NO SIGNATURE! If you give them your address, they should be able to tell you to the penny what the final price is.
That said, when I took my paperwork to the DMV, my dealer had over collected on sales tax and the DMV reduced the registration fee by the overcharge - said it's already been collected by the dealer.
