Default Best price for apes

Hey guys First off I have searched and read all the ape hanger threads I could find and got a lot of good info. I am just wondering how much cash people have invested into there kits. I found a site that has a complete kit for $480 but was wanting to know if someones done it cheaper. I dont want to compromise and not be safe but I also would like to do this as low of a cost as possible and throw the extra cash at paying the bike off. I'm thinking I want to do 16" apes, they dont have to be very fancy. Even know I really like this sites 1 1/4 open apes http://www.brcustomcycles.com/Ape_Hangers.php and there $275 but like I said I think i'd rather spend less and can get some standard apes for under $200. This is all for my 2008 electra glide. If you guys could list what you spent on the total converstion it would be great.

I did mine for about 400 bucks approximately.

Harley Bars. Harley clutch cable and an extra TBW setup.....assorted wires, butt splices, shrink wrap, etc.

Did the labor myself.

$105 in bars, Santee 11"
$65 in wire extension 12"
$240 in clutch and brake cable
did myself

$410 total

I didn't want anything fancy, so the Santee bars were perfect for me

About 600 all in for my 12" Yaffe Monkey Bars.

375 for the bars
50 bucks for wiring extensions and misc electrical
180 for cables and brake lines (off ebay, it took a couple of weeks to gather everything up). +6 Diamondback Clutch cable, +6 stainless brake lines, and +3 stainless throttle/idle cables.

I've heard of some guys paying 1500 to 2K at the dealer for apes, by the time they got through with all the wiring and cables and labor for everything. That would wipe out my mods budget for the year.

Yeah I wont be paying harley to do it for that reason. So for your 12" bars you did a +6 clutch so ill need a +10 and for brake also. Everything else should be by wire.

I was told by a guy who has done it on all of his bikes, you can run 14" apes with only extending the clutch and brake line and rerouting some wires

Don't know about 14s but thats all I had to change with my 577 WOs. They are listed as 12.5. Bars aren't always measured the same by different companies.
