Default Daytona Bike Week, worth it?

I am thinking about going to Daytona in March for bike week (never been there) but when I figure the cost to fly down from NJ, getting the bike down there or renting a bike plus hotel I'm around $2000 for 4 days. I'm retired and not rich so do you think it's worth the $2k?

Not worth 2k that for sure...we will be riding down from Philly, probably only spend $500 the entire trip.

I've ridden down, spent a day and then continued on to other sites in Florida.

You'll see out-of-state bikes all over Florida during Bike Week.

Count on $6-700 just for bike rental and insurance. They have a minimum 3 day rental during bike week.I did it last year but I rode the entire 3 days,Orlando to Tampa,Key West,up to daytona on day 3 and back to Orlando,so I figure I got my moneys worth.Went to daytona by car the next day so I didn't feel like I wasted a rental day.

Save your money and come to Laconia Rain Week in June.

Some of the best riding in the Northeast up here in NH

Florida... flat roads and old people..

(ya I'll be there this week, and I am renting a bike while I am there)

If you're a biker and have never done BikeWeek, it's 110% a MUST. I live here and have done plenty and still look forward to it.

It's a mess but a good mess.

I can't comment on the cost, it is what it is. Ride or don't ride, come down.

I live in Colorado. My plan is to truck my bike to Dallas and leave my truck at a friends house and ride the rest of the way. For me, the whole thing about a bike rally is experiencing the ride along the way as well as whats going on at the rally. I plan to ride down to Key West as well. If you are retired, pack a bag and get in the saddle. Its definitely worth the experience of checking everything out. Dont forget to hit the Cabbage Patch Bar on cole slaw wrestling day.

If you can, ride or trailer down. If you never did Bike Week, it is worth it. I would however get someone to show you around so you hit all the right places to see and do. Just to come down and do Main Street would be a waste. There are a lot of good deals on hotels and campgrounds. Word of advice, don't drink and ride, LEO don't play...

As far as FLY & Ride, I wonder if you would even be able to rent one this late in the game, Bike Week is about a month and half away.

Be Safe JIM
