Default Dealers still squeeze

Went to 2 dealers who still have 11's on the floor I'm looking at 2011 SG, 103, abs, sec and cruise.
Asked both stores how about a winter deal?
Both guys said the same thing 19, 9 + taxes + doc fees I was like are you serious the 12's are out and the 11's are a year old already just by driving off the lot I'll lose a grand I'm trying to save a few bucks here by buying last years model.
It's as if the housing bubble moved to the bike market.

Of course they are going to play hard ball.

If you have cash in hand you have bargaining power.

they are waiting for the guy with a late model trade they can screw on the trade value and needs financing, so they can screw him again.

it is possible both the dealers you went to are owned by the same "auto" or "powersports" group- so the guys on the floor have no authority to do anything but churn out list price paperwork ( and free keychain)

If you feel like a purchase adventure, check H-D Missoula and Kalispell. No sales tax on bikes in Montana, set up a quick online LLC and save 9% or so. MT has permanent plates so no annual inspection etc.
The online services will walk your paperwork through the State offices and set you up for about $600 and mail you your tags when they are processed

price last year OTD on a left over 2010 Ultra with 103" was under 23K

Now you now why you see so many motorhomes with MT plates

No, they are not owned by the same corp.
I was not aware about MT and how it works I'll look into it, thanks.

I'm gonna go back this weekend and talk to the sales mgr. and see if that changes anything but, I doubt it.
Trying to find a certain thing at a price you can live with is not always the easiest thing to do.

Go on line and look for other dealers in the surrounding area.
Driving a little ways to save some money is always a good idea. Any dealer can address any warranty issus that may come up.

2011 Street Glide was 19,400, plus 2K for the 103 package, 1200 for security and abs, 300 for cruise, 400 for freight. Comes to 23,300, plus taxes and doc fees. They're taking about 3500 off the msrp, sounds like a fair deal.

whats funny is that people don't realize that a 2012 is actually cheaper than a comparatively equipped 2011.

The first dealer I look for SGs at wanted to unload a Sedona Orange SG 103 power pack and cruise for $500 less then a 2012 with cruise control no ABS. I guess it was a good deal, but I figured just go with the newest.

Cash in hand isn't the bargaining chip people believe it is. Financing is where the money is made. Waving cash around just says" you won't make **** off of me"
