I suggest you find a dealer with the handelbar test bike. That would be a place to start.

Carry a tape measure. If you see a set you like on a parked bike measure them. Then try them out on the test bike.

Find some photos of some bikes with what you like, take the photos to the test bike and show them to the dealer.

You might post some photos here of the look you are considering for others to make suggestions about, too.

Your riding style could make a difference. Do you just scoot around town? Or, do you take day long trips?

I ran 10" monkey bars , I loved the look , were nice around town but I wanted more pullback , they have 6" of pullback and I wanted 12" of pullback , Wild1 & Carlini had more pullback and would work I ended up having Bill at BR Custom Cycles build me a pair

Lots of luck on this decision. Handlebars are about as personal a mod as you will find. Matts suggestion hits the nail on the head. Do you want 1" or 1-1/4" bars. Do you want taller, wider, more pull-back. Comfort or function? Taller & pullback are comfort - wider more control. Decide what YOU want then research and find want fits your needs. On 1-1/4" bars the transition to 1" controls some mfg. taper some mfg. break totally(ie WildOnes) makes a difference adding accessaries that mount on the bars.
Enjoy your search hope you find the one that fills the bill. Ride safe.

I don't like the tall ape hangers, but like the way the shorter ones look, comfort is a must I do go on long rides

keep in mind that you may need to go +4 or 6 inches on your clutch cable and brake line depending on what size you go with, with 8" mini-apes you may get by with your stock clutch/brake, also consider internally wiring the control wires for a much cleaner look, especially with 1¼" dia. bars., also make sure your new bars are notched for TBW

I just installed Santee 11" mini-apes and 'almost' could get by using my stock clutch cable and brake line but did not want to jeopardize safety with tight lines.
