thunderheader 2 into 1
just picked up a TH 2 into 1 dirt cheap. how much HP/TQ should i expect over RH slip-ons and big sucker?
also what setup(power commander, air cleaner, etc) would you suggest without doing any engine work? thx ahead of time
UPDATE-
forgot it mention i have a 07 street glide. yeah i pretty much have always like TH for the sound, never cared much for the design or quality haha

the T/H is a great design.
louder than I like but truly a performance pipe rather than a "style".
you a$$ dyno will feel power gains over stock headers below 3000 rpms ( you'll be noticing that you may not be downshifting as much)
the best bang for buck air cleaner these days is the Ness big sucker for under $120 on ebay from easternpc, that's the chrome version if you have a black/chrome motor
tuning etc. depends on year/model/budget/how deep you want to get into it.
On my 09 I use XIEDS ( $125) plug in and done- these don't work for everyone, but the results for me have been good
you don't list what year/model you have

Depends on what year make/model you have.
If you have an '09 49-state bike, I doubt you'll see any gains. Especially without a dyno tune. Even with a dyno tune, a Thunderheader gives you a torque dip from about 2300-2800. It's only a couple of foot-pounds, but it's there.
Top-end rush should be good. And the sound is unbeatable.
As far as tuners are concerned, either a TTS Mastertune or Dynojet Power Vision is what I would recommend. If that's too expensive, then use a Power Commander V.
XIED's do nothing for you in any throttle position that requires open-loop operation. So, essentially, anything over 3000 RPM at 75% throttle or more, or over 4000rpm at any throttle position. When you're exposing your engine to the highest loads, your engine is required to use mapping designed for a stock air cleaner and exhaust.
I just opened my map for my bagger, and took the data right from it.
Do what you want, but it's not something I would want to do to my bike.
At least with a PCV, PV, or TTS you're using a map that's close to ideal. And, with the TTS and PV you can actually tune the bike yourself.
I run Thunderheaders on both my Harleys.

they really need a good tune and where I am I have gotten best results with a TTS. On my new to me RKC I am running the PC5 and I really liked the tune better with the TTS on my 09 RG. NOTHING sounds like the TH and I have tried everything. I tried the Fatcat Boss most recently and hated the sound so I went back to the TH. Quality may not be as good but damn it sounds good. On my 05 RG i replaced Rinehart TD with the TH and it was night and day above 3000rpm. This is my experience only so keep that in mind..;-)
