Default Can't see the transmission oil level

So I have a problem and I am looking for ideas. I use Mobil 1 75-90 in my transmission. The problem is that the oil is so clear I can not see the level on the chrome dip stick. I was thinking about adding a dark food coloring to the oil so that I can create enough contrast so that I can see the level. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I was also thinking about trying another oil. I think there are some transmission oils that are colored. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Dont add anything to the oil to color it!

If you want a Syn Trans oil that is easy to see try Redline VTwin Transmission Oil with Shockproof. its pepto bismol pink and is a great product.

What year and model bike? My 11 RKC takes 38 oz to get to the full mark. 32 oz barely touches the dipstick. If you are putting in 32 oz you may not be putting in enough oil.

Take the dipstick & press it to a paper towel & roll it up or down. You will be able to see the level where it soaked into the towel.

I wasn't to keen on that idea. I might try that Redline. I have heard nothing but good things about it. Also, your idea about rolling on a paper towel was to easy and simple for my brain to figure out! Thanks for the ideas.

Scuff the chrome a little with a scotch brite pad to leave a few scratches that will hold some fluid, wipe it off well, insert, pull and look for the "Shine Line"
This has bothered me also on some classic autos, worked for me.

Most touring bikes only need 32oz tranny oil (38oz primary oil). Your owner's manual should say for sure. Overfilling is just as bad as underfilling.

My 11 owners manual says approximately 32 oz, that approximate is about 6 oz shy of being right.
