Default Old speaker covers on new speakers

Has anyone cut their OEM black speaker covers that came stock on their Street Glide, to fit the new Boom Speakers when they upgraded? It looks like I would only have to carefully trim around the tweeter? Won't know till I pull the originals. Or would this hurt the sound quality of the new speakers? I'm not fond of being able to see the speaker cones through the grill covers.

No worries dude, when you pull the stock ones every thing comes with it. The Booms just mount back in place. It's plug & play.

Ride on.

Thanks. I assumed it was plug and play. What I'm wondering about is cutting the original speaker grill black covering to fit around the new tweeter, rather than using the new grill covers. I didn't know if it would impact the sound, or if it could be done as I haven't pulled them yet. I don't want to be able to see the speaker cones through the grill. Didn't know if anyone else had done this or felt the same way?

The covers remain in place when you remove the stock speakers. The new speakers will mount up flush to them.

Sorry if I'm ignorant on this one? The Harley Boom upgrade kit comes with new covers with a built in tweeter. The tweeter is raised higher than the face. It jutts out there a bit?

Can I just mount the new cover right over the old cover? If so, do you think it will impact the sound? I guess I just need to look at it when I pull it apart and decide then.

The covers, stock and the upgraded ones are "acousticaly transparrent" meaning that they are designed to not affect the sound quality. You will be fine just sticking them back in there.

Not to hijack the thread but I thought I'd pass on what I'm thinking. Just put in a new set of Polks and amp. I couldn't reuse the grills I had, built in tweeter in the grills. Anyhow, I was at home depot for house crap and somehow walked past an isle of decorative metal sheets. Got me thinking, what about chrome grills. Found a place on line and hope to purchase a sheet tomorrow. Only issue I have is knowing what is the right thickness to purchase (how thick is .06, what do I compare that to) Plan to call the supplier tomorrow.

Thanks alot, that is what I was hoping to hear! I didn't like the look of seeing the woofer cone through the grill. However, I certainly would have lived with it if it meant degrading the sound quality of the new speakers. Good to know it won't!

Nobody else finds the speaker cones objectionable through the grill covers?
