Unhappy Harley HID headlight lens... broken

I was wondering when something like this would happen...

Broken headlight lens.

A rock must have jumped up and bit me...

I was curious if anyone had the HD part number for a replacement. I'm also contemplating a LED instead...

Thanks
Harry

I appreciate the offer. But I think I found what I need. The dual hallogen housing will work, I just don't need the bulbs that come with it.

Thanks

So,

I was wrong. The lens from the Halogen dual bub kit is NOT the same as the Harley HID kit.

The HID has two small mounting screws on the back of a rubber boot keeping the HID bulb in place.

My newest delimma is wether to go HD LED, get the HD replacement for the older HID lens, keep the Dual Bulb Halogen and find HIDs to fit inside.

The HD HID had a pathetic bulb for high beam and I was meaning to change it out to HID sooner or later.

If this HD HID bulb ever burnt out, it looks like a PITA to get another.

Not sure what direction I'm going to go. Curious how the LED lights are comparing to the HID.

Went straight from the halogen to the HD LED and light the light. I ride country roads at night on a regular basis and it, plus the aux lights LED, make a bright white light and light up the shoulders nice. The high beam pattern is narrow but really reachs out, but the side LED in the headlight still make good light on the shoulder. Expensive but nice. Course everything about this bike seems expensive. You only live once and I wanted that once to be as long as possible with things that help me see and be seen.

Thanks for the info.

I went HD HID instead of some aftermarket solution as usually it fits, and cleaner. I NEVER use the high beam, it is a crappy waste of time.

I had it installed for three months, and then Harley comes out with the LED.

I just can't find a comparison between HID, HD HID, Truck Lite, and HD LED [Speaker made.]

If it is time to pull the plug on the HD HID, so be it. I wonder why the Moco dumped the HID line anyhow.

I'm sure HID is brighter than LED. HID is an electrical arc, LED is light emmiting from a diode.

more research perhaps...

Ok,

So far HID is brighter, and not as long lasting, but apparently the LED is more durable and lower power consumption.

I haven't had a failure of the HID system, but the LED apparently lasts longer...

Maybe the LED is the way to go. It is current, and probably not too hard to get in the event of a failure. if there is a failure...

BUT what if a rock hits it...

ha ha

the insanity.

Ordered replacement lens. $107 from HD

Sort o forgot about high beam uselessness. So I ordered a 60 W HID kit to sock in there. It has 50% increase in brightness compare to 35W HID.

Look out people. Wear you're sunglasses at night.
