Make sure the tour pak has a good electrical ground- that metal plate under the mat is the ground plane, if it is grounded to the chassis, the antenna will work better.

other than that it's check and clean the connections.

I just leave a stubby in place for the am/fm/wb, the tour pak fits over it- pepboys $8.

I don't have cb so I can't help there.

Default 09 Ultra Docking question

We are contemplating ordering the entire system: 54205-09 Docking hardware, 53246-09A Detach kit for Pak, and 70032-09 wiring harness. Since HD gives us loyal owners such "great pricing" for accessories, the whole thing will ONLY cost $790, not including installation.

While I'm trying to figure out which body part or family member to give them for these items would you address 2 questions: Is there a more reasonable place to buy these items. (tried Ebay).

Also, were you able to install everything yourself?

Thanks,

Mary Ann

I went this route a year ago and was disappointed with the wiring harness kit. What it does mainly is relocate the pax comms plug to along the rear fender and contains the CB and am/fm lead jumpers so you can mount/demount your antenna's from the TP to the fender sides.

I found the comms plug relocation to be good but not happy with the antenna jumper leads. It's so easy to just unwrap the speaker and antenna leads from the side covers and just run them to/through the TP again, rather than use the jumpers.
One zip tie on each side after you re-run the wiring and your done.

You know you can check out the installation destructions at the HD website?

Good luck and happy to assist from afar if you go this way.

give Jon at horny toad harley in Temple Tx a call. He has beaten everybodies prices on harley parts for over the last year. Until Zanotti's went out he was beating them and also lakeshore ie lshd1.com by a bunch. I think I paid about $450 for the entire detach kit for my Roadglide Ultra.
