Default Is This Normal?

I was sitting in traffic on Main St in Daytona at bike week today...I'm sure many of u know how congested that gets on the last weekend. Well naturally i was sitting for quite a while...was mid 80s, sunny, and the bike got rather hot. While I was sitting my oil pressure gauge gradually went down to next to nothing and my oil pressure warning light flashed. If I turned the throttle a bit the light went right off and the gauge moved up a bit but as soon as I went back to idle the same thing would happen.

Once I got out of traffic and moving it stopped doing that. I parked for a while and let the bike cool down and it didn't do it any more. I'm thinking it was due to the heat and the oil thinning out? Might be a dumb assumption I dont know. Just wanted to know if this is a normal occurrance or if it something I should have checked.

Sorry for the dumb question but I am about the furthest thing from a wrench there is!

Yeah air cooled VTwins dont like cooking in traffic and I avoid it as much as possible. I dont have an oil pressure gauge but I can feel the effects if I sit too lomg in traffic. Main reason I rarely commute to work with mine. Even with an oil cooler, if I set too long It will cook.

Yep , it's what they do.
Had a similar thing happen to us in a major backup in Ocean City Md Bike week.
If you are in Stopped traffic longer then 15 minutes shut it off.

Do you have the EMTS function activated? I was in Daytona on Wed and mine was going off at almost every stoplight. Doing what it was designed to do!!
