Default Need sheepskin cover help.

Read some good reviews from people that have used sheepskin on long trips. Need some more pros and cons though. Also, who makes the best fitted one for an HD Hammock seat. FT

I had one of the sheep skins from Alaska Leather that I used on my 2000 RK. I really liked it for two reasons...it prevented the "hot" seat issue for me and I liked the texture of the damn thing. Felt like I was riding a damn gorilla through the jungle bareback!!

(another bonus..you get a small bumper sticker that says "Don't Ride Naked!" which I thought was good advice)

Thanks, worried about sweating during the summer months. Also worried that out will slide around on the seat.FT

No it wont slide. But it does include built-in straps...one that goes around the nose of the seat and one that goes under the seat. Prevents theft more than providing stability. The bottom surface grips the seat well and it wont move around much at all....if any.

I just got a scrap of sheepskin from a local shop to see how I would like it on my trip to Sturgis.

Would keep it in my saddle bag and throw it on for the longer stints.

Made a believer in me. It was a hassle because it would blow off when we stopped, but the comfort was fantastic.

Good, cheap way to see if you would like it. Do not use it for occasional rides, but I bring it along for anything over a couple hours.

Another vote for Alaskan, bought one in Sturgis in 07 and couldn't be happier with it.

On my previous bike I bought a whole sheepskin, used the seat as a template to cut it to shape, and strapped it on with a couple elastic straps from the hardware store. Doesn't move, stays cool in summer, warm in winter, and stops rainwater pools forming in the crotch! Comfort extreme, and way cheaper than store bought.
Will do the same on the FLHX when I find a black skin.

Sams or Costco usually have a full skin for around $35.

Bought a black sheepskin from Costco for $40 and cut my own to fit my seat and the 2-up seat for long trips. Makes a huge difference in comfort.
