oil, filters, gas.
if they are hopped up you will find the next weakest link in the chain.
a stock or stage 1 bike will retain MPG and reliability.
beware of "awesome performance modifications"
performance packages which are documented by known vendors will have a better results than "my buddy's uncle welded..."
the 103 has more power than the 96" mostly in the lower rpm ranges- torque...and this allows shifting into 6th gear sooner- the 103 also has compression releases and an oil cooler stock.
my 96" is pretty good though.

Are you in VA? If so, where? Buddy of mine (with more $ than he knows what to do with) has a black 2009 Road King Classic with a ton of chrome add ons (has stock motor) with very low miles on it. He has a 12 or 13 Road Glide CVO, so the King stays in the garage. He's said a number of times he should sell the King, but he's not a Craigslist guy.
