Default Total Windshield Confusion

2006 Street Glide.

I can see it coming. I'm going to spend a fortune before I get a windshield that works for me. I do not like buffeting around my head and ears and don't mind looking through the windshield. Here's the problem.

The stock shape 6" windshield that came with the bike was completely unsatisfactory. After talking to them and following their guidelines to the letter I ordered a 9" Long Ride reverse lip shield. To be blunt, it s***s. Pretty heavy buffeting around ears and head. So maybe I don't want one of these look over reverse lip shields. But I only got one more shot at this this. I don't know if I should just get a reverse lip shield and order a higher one and look through it, order a stock Harley shape shield high enough to cover head or something else.

I have just been looking at the Nation City Vstream shield. But they are either 10" or 14". 10 seems like it may be too low and 14" seems a bit high. I'm totally lost. Can anyone help. glad to provide more info if needed. PS: I'm 5'8" tall.

your buffeting is coming from under the fairing. Pretty common problem with batwing fairings.

Get some fork deflectors

The first thing I got rid of was that 12" shield that came stock on my Ultra. If I want that much windshield I will drive my truck.

I got the LRS 9" and it is perfect used it all fall and winter. I liked it so much I decided to try the LRS 6" for the spring and summer and it is great. It does the job it is supposed to and it is the first time in years that I don't have a shield in my line of vision.

I already have the 9" Long Ride Shield on my bike right now, it is the one with the buffeting problem. I also have the street-glide.com Fork Deflectors, so that isn't the problem. They helped/eliminated buffeting in the chest and leg area, but do nothing for my head. If the 9" shield is causing buffeting I can't see how getting a lower one would help!

maybe I should add I wanted to switch to a half helmet from the 3/4 I have now. I also have a need to be able to use my cell phone if need be while riding, that is why I need to get rid of that buffeting around side of head. Still like comment from a Vstream user. thanks

Go with a taller one and look throught it. Maybe try the 12" flat top or the 9" Stealth from LRS. I also like the Hawg wings fairing wind deflectors as well. Do you have the deflector(ashtray) between the forks?

Just pull the trigger and get the 8.5" klockwerks. One shot and your done. If that doesn't work your never going to be happy.

"I also have a need to be able to use my cell phone if need be while riding, that is why I need to get rid of that buffeting around side of head."

Once you get killed while using a cell phone on your bike you won't have any buffeting issues at all.
