if you use the online parts finder:
http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....artsfinder.htm
you can see if both year/model use the same part number.
( read the instructions on how the partsfinder works)

Before I installed the Harman Kardon in my '04 EG, I spent a lot of time comparing the wiring diagrams for the '06 radio connector to the '04 wiring diagram--they were the same plug and wiring diagram with the exception of one wire which is used for the Automatic Volume Control; all others were the same (e.g. handlebar controls, power/ground, speakers, etc.).
So, to answer your question, "yes," you can replace your '06 radio with an '03 radio but you won't have AVC.
One caveat: the wiring on an Ultra dealing with CB, intercom, etc. are much different since the older use a 23 wire connector for those, while the '06 and newer models use a 35 wire connector. Consequently, while a simple radio swap w/o CB/Intercom would be a plug and play proposition, trying to also have CB/Intercom requires replacing the second radio connector and rewiring to make the change.
As for the previous posters saying it won't work because of wiring harness difference, I hope he'll reply with his personal experience on the topic since it's different from mine.

Unless you're interested in adding the HD XM, iPod, or other of the HD modules, there's little reason to swap radios IMO.

Thanks for clearing this up! Why I don't want my 2003 CD player on my 2003 Ultra is because I have cd's that I have burned into Data cd's, Which Holds more Songs on then a reg 12-15 song max on a CD-R.. But The damn CD Player won't play my cd's because it doesn't have the upgraded software like the newer HK has. But I was going to see if My 2003 cd player will work on a 2006 classic because, My father has a BIKETRONICS After Market CD player, which has that capability and I would just switch with him. Again that is my question, would my cd player fit perfectly up to a 2006 Classic wiring without any issues..

Carl, I have to replace the radio on a 2004 Ultra and would like to keep the CB/intercom function plus add the ipod module, so would like to upgrade to the Harmon Kardon radio. Since you already seem to know how to wire the 35 pin plug, would you be so kind as to share that with me, as well as where I can get the 35 pin plug? I can't begin to tell you how much I would appreciate that info.
Thanks
