Default cruise control... not working ?

Ok, Im not normally this challenged but something doesnt seem right. This is the first bike I've ever had that has cruise control. I went to test it out yesterday and it didnt seem to be working. I first turned it "on" and then when I got to 70mph I pushed the button over to "set" and let my hand off the throttle. It immediately started slowing down from 70mph. Wtf am I doing wrong ? Thanks

That's about all there is to it. Check your brake lights and make sure all are working. There is a switch under the front brake lever that if broken will cause the brake lights to stay on all the time and wont allow the cruise to engage, maybe check fuses also.

Check the roll off connector. The idle cable is many times the culprit. Do yo have a Service Manual to follow procedures to check cruise?

WHen you hit the set button...did you just blip it or hold it. A blip of the button should be all it takes. When you turned the cruise on did the red cruise icon illuminate on your speedo? If not check your fuses and brake switches as mentioned. When set it would change to green.

I had the same problem. The front brake lever was not engaging the brake light switch enough to break the contact to turn off the brake lights. Check to make sure your brake light is not on at all times like mine. I did not use my Cruise that often so I did not know how long I had been riding with my brake light lite!!!!

Happened to me but is was the rear brake switch leaking, I have a 2009 Fltr and that switch ended up being a recall. Not sure about a 2006 but any brake issue that throws a code on mine disables the cruise.

Really sounds like the roll off switch or a brake switch.
